How to summary: A database is used to track all the recordings and bookmarks you create using Dictomate.  It is a good idea to backup the database every now and again to ensure the application metadata is never lost. 

You first need to access the application preferences, to do this click the additional options menu button (three vertical dots circled in Figure 1) and select Preferences from the available options

From the list of preferences scroll down to the bottom, you will see the Backup database and Restore database options.

To backup the database press the Backup database option

Your database backup file will be written to the folder specified in Figure 2 above

When you press the Backup database option your Dictomate database is written to disk

To restore the database select the Restore database option, this option reads your backed up database from the previous step

To restore the database you will need to confirm it is OK to overwrite the existing database.  If you are certain it is ok to overwrite your existing Dictomate database then press the OK button
